Your Voice Matters, BDS Families!
Bay District Schools is asking parents and guardians to share their feedback through the Cognia Parent Survey. Your input helps shape decisions, strengthen our schools, and support every student as we work to Put the “A” Back in Bay.
-Completely anonymous
-Takes just a few minutes
-Helps improve communication, family partnerships, and student support
-The survey is open February 13 – March 13, 2026.
The parent survey consists of two parts:
Part 1 focuses on experiences with the child’s school
Part 2 gathers input to help the district plan and strengthen the Parent and Family Engagement Program for the next school year, and provides an opportunity for open-ended responses.

Twenty-one Deer Point 5th grade artists had their artwork on display at the City of Lynn Haven's Black History Month Art Showcase yesterday! Fifth grade students learned about contemporary black artist, Mark Bradford, and how he uses historical events to create meaning through art. Students then studied an important black historical figure(s) (Black Seminoles, Buffalo Soldiers, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Pap Singleton, Mary W. Jackson, Rosa Parks, Frederick Douglass, and Harriet Tubman). Students used printmaking and collage techniques on primary sources relating to their chosen historical figure.
Thank you to the City of Lynn Haven for supporting art education at our school!

Monthly Guidance Lesson Spotlight – “A Little Spot of Love”
During the month of February, our guidance lessons for our Kindergarten through 2nd graders, focused on “A Little Spot of Love.” Students explored the many ways love shows up in their lives — through kindness, friendship, and confidence. Through engaging stories, discussions, and activities, students learned how to recognize loving behaviors, express appreciation for others, and practice small acts of kindness each day. Our goal was to help students understand that love isn’t just a feeling — it’s something we show through our words and actions. By spreading “little spots of love,” we continue building a caring and supportive school community.
